Luxurious Labour Delivery Room (LDR)

Convenience and comfort are paramount at our birthing center.

We have specially designed single room maternity care units in which Labor, Delivery and Recovery takes place in the same luxurious and comfortable setting. Combining sophisticated technical capabilities with carefully considered design interventions, each room is structured to promote a sense of calm for the birthing experience. At the same time, it is a highly functional environment in which doctors and caregivers can safely and efficiently perform their services.

About the Room

A dedicated family area is located in each of our labor delivery rooms so that visiting family members can stay comfortable and relaxed during all stages of the labor and delivery process. This area features a day bed to accommodate overnight stays, a comfortable chair, tea/coffee making facility, television, a refrigerator, as well as housekeeping and food services. A hand-washing sink is available upon access to the room to maintain hygiene. Additionally, there are specially designed spotlights for delivery that the doctor can easily access.

Benefits for the mother to be in case she avails the LDR facility

  • Room of your choice at the Maternity & Child Care wing

  • Hassle-free admission & discharge process

  • Gold & Silver priority privilege cards

  • Dedicated LDR Relationship Executive

  • Celebration for families along with professional  photoshoot

  • Access to the exclusive celebration lounge

  • Trained feeding nurses for the new mother

  • 24 hour aaya available on request

Flooring

Linoleum flooring is incorporated into every labor and delivery room for patient comfort and sound attenuation. We have also specifically chosen this flooring, as it is bacteriostatic in nature. It is a natural product with reduced toxicity and maintenance; with smooth surfaces for easy cleaning, coved flooring and minimal ledges, the labor and delivery room as a whole is designed for infection control.

New Born Care

A dedicated infant care and resuscitation area close to the birthing bed provides easy access for the pediatrician to tend to the baby, and enables the mother to keep an eye on her newborn during that critical first few moments outside the womb.

High Risk Pregnancy :

A high risk pregnancy is one that puts at risk  the health or life of the mother or her fetus. It often requires specialized care from specially trained providers.

Some pregnancies become high risk as they progress, while some women are at increased risk for complications even before they get pregnant for a variety of reasons.

Having a high-risk pregnancy does not mean that a complication will necessarily occur, however, the chances of labour or birthing complications are higher as compared to a routine pregnancy.

Early and regular prenatal care helps many women have healthy pregnancies and deliveries without complications.

Causes of high-risk pregnancy

There are several reasons why a woman may experience high-risk pregnancy:

Existing health conditions, such as high blood pressure, diabetes epilepsy, thyroid, heart disorders, endometriosis, PCOS, autoimmune disease, kidney disease, HIV, asthma and infections may increase the risk of high risk pregnancy

  • Overweight and obesity. Obesity increases the risk for high blood pressure, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, stillbirth, neural tube defects, and cesarean delivery.

  • Multiple births. The risk of complications is higher in women carrying more than one fetus (twins and higher-order multiples). Common complications include preeclampsia, premature labor, and preterm birth.

  • Young or old maternal age. Pregnancy in teens (below 17 years) and women age 35 or older increases the risk for preeclampsia and gestational high blood pressure.

  • Lifestyle disorders – Sedentary and poor lifestyle choices such as alcohol consumption, smoking, substance abuse and lack of exercise can induce complications at any stage of pregnancy.

  • Problems in a previous pregnancy – Health problems like preeclampsia or preterm labour that may have occurred in the last pregnancy can also increase pregnancy risks in future.

  • Women with high-risk pregnancies should receive care from a special team of health care providers to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Screening for high-risk pregnancy

Prenatal tests and screenings for high-risk mothers are highly specialised and targeted to avoid complexities. Some common interventions include:

Lab tests – Routine blood and urine tests are done to check the presence of infections such as HIV, urine tract infections and syphilis.

Specialised ultrasound scans – High-precision ultrasound scans are performed to detect fetal abnormalities. Ultrasound scans also help measure the length of the cervix to determine the possibility of preterm labour.

Amniocentesis – Amniocentesis is a procedure to screen the amniotic fluid of the mother. A small sample of amniotic fluid is removed from the uterus of the mother and screened for birth defects, physical abnormalities and fetal infection.

Chorionic villus sampling (CVS) – Chorionic villus sampling is a prenatal test in which a sample of chorionic villi is extracted from the placenta. The chorionic villus is an essential component of the placenta responsible for regulating and transporting oxygen and nutrients. CVS test can help in the detection of chromosomal problems like Down syndrome or genetic diseases such as cystic fibrosis, Tay-Sachs disease and sickle cell anaemia.

Management of high-risk pregnancy.

High-risk pregnancies can be effectively managed and treated at any stages of the pregnancy under the guidance of a verified specialist. The treatment protocol varies for each woman depending upon her risk factors and overall health. In some cases, healthcare providers aim to treat the underlying condition to prevent pregnancy and birthing complications. While in others, medicinal interventions are offered to minimize the risk of complications for a safe pregnancy.

Prevention of high-risk pregnancy

Expecting mothers can prevent or minimize their chances of high-risk pregnancy. Take the following steps to ensure a healthy pregnancy:

Routine prenatal checkup – Prenatal checkups can offer valuable insights to medical practitioners about the present state of your pregnancy. Additionally, prenatal tests and screenings can help in early detection and hence timely treatment of health conditions that may pose any threats.

Healthy living – A healthy lifestyle is key to a healthy pregnancy. You should strictly adhere to your doctor’s advice, eat a nutrient-dense diet, exercise regularly as per advise, maintain healthy body weight and take your prenatal vitamins.
